This large 19th C Armenian Kazak rug was likely woven for the aisle of an Armenian Church. Western rug dealers make up all kinds of stories about the two vertical pillar. The truth is the pillars represent Priest Stoles. As fellow Eastern Christians, the Greeks also wove the same symbol on their rugs in the Meghri region in Anatolia.
