Inscribed Antique Armenian Karabagh with repeated palmette usually seen on Fachralo rugs. This border is common to Armenian rugs as well as the quinconce symbols.
The first part of the inscription is clear: “AYS GABAS YES KORDZETSI DER” which means: “This carpet was made by me, God”. Then the letters are mixed and need further study. The date seems to be 1878 which is consistent with the age of the rug. “Gaba” means carpet in the Arstakh Armenian dialect.
